Bachelor's Final Project: Railway Station Voronezh-3

Assignment

In Russia, trains are the primary mode of transportation for 1,000-mile trips or less. When it comes to traveling to nearby cities, people predominantly chose trains. When Voronezh's population reached one million people, it became necessary to build the third interstate railway station in addition to the other two. Therefore, the Bachelor’s Final Project was to design a large railway station, develop detailed fit plans for all areas of the building, and organize the movement of transport to and from the station. I further expanded the assignment by adding a hotel structure to the program for people experiencing longer layovers.

Concept

Voronezh is the hotbed of the Russian Navy. Under the leadership of Emperor Peter I, the first Russian battleship was built here in 1696. While building the Navy, Peter I and his aides were living and working in the city, so at the time Voronezh was de facto the capital of the Russian Empire. Therefore, the fleet theme is central to the project. The hotel structure resembles a sailing boat sailing on the “waves” of the terminal.
